Walmart raising pay to $12 per hour in select stores - AL.com

Some hourly Walmart employees at a select number of stores will be receiving a raise as part of a test by the nation’s largest retailer.

Hourly associates working in the fresh, front-end and replenishment areas will see a pay raise from $11 to $12 an hour, Walmart spokeswoman Jami Lamontagne told Bloomberg. The change includes cashiers, shelf stockers and deli workers at the select stores.

The increase will take place at Walmart locations using the new “Great Workplace” model. It’s being instituted as a test and the company has not announced plans to raise its minimum wage across the board.

Walmart has not released a list of the stores where the changes will take place.

Walmart raised its minimum wage for all employees to $10 an hour in 2015 before increasing it to $11 an hour three years later.
