1 dead after shooting outside Walmart in Far North Dallas, police say - The Dallas Morning News

One person was killed in a shooting in a Walmart parking lot Sunday night in Far North Dallas, police said.

Officers were called about 9:30 p.m. to the Walmart at 15220 Montfort Drive, south of Arapaho Road and east of the Dallas North Tollway. Dallas police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez told reporters at the scene that a male shot a female multiple times in the parking lot before he fled the scene on foot.

She said the two people had walked out of the Walmart store together, but it was unclear if they knew each other.

Homicide detectives working the case have identified a suspect in the shooting and are searching for him, Gutierrez said. No detailed suspect description was provided.

“The homicide detectives who are working the scene, they’re going to get all the information that they can — surveillance video, witnesses, whatever they can get,” Gutierrez said. “They’re working very hard to find the person who committed this homicide.”

Police had not identified the victim Monday morning.

Details about what led to the shooting were not immediately available.
