GREENSBORO — A man was stabbed in the arm early this morning after arranging to meet someone at a Greensboro Walmart to sell Air Jordans.
The victim arranged to meet a buyer via the OfferUp website to sell the pair of basketball shoes at the WalMart at 4424 W. Wendover Ave., police said.
When the male victim arrived in the business parking lot about 12:15 a.m., two men tried to rob him of the shoes, police said. One of the men had a knife and stabbed him in the arm.
The victim was treated for an injury that was not life-threatening. He was taken to the hospital for his wound, police said. The two men were last seen fleeing on foot through the Walmart parking lot.
Greensboro police urges people to make transactions at police stations, if possible. If they can't, don't meet in a secluded place to buy or sell items, don't go to a secondary location, tell someone where you're going before going to the location for the transaction and trust your instincts. You can always buy/sell the item later, according to tips posted on the agency's website.
