Locust Walmart shopper bending over for items accidentally discharges gun - WBTV

LOCUST, N.C. (WBTV) - A customer shopping inside the Walmart in Locust accidentally discharged their gun when they bent over to grab items Saturday night.

According to the Locust Police Department, officers were sent to a “shots fired” call at the store just before 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, police said officers told people who were trying to enter the store to leave out of an abundance of caution.

Police said a revolver the customer was carrying fell out of their holster to the floor, causing it to discharge into the ceiling of the store. No one was injured as a result of the gun being discharged with the only property damage being to the business.

According to police, there was no criminal intent and there has not been a shooting or a shooter with criminal motives inside the store.

Officers said charges related to the negligent discharge are expected.
