Man arrested after brief standoff with LMPD SWAT in Outer Loop Walmart parking lot - WLKY Louisville

A man was arrested at a Walmart on the Outer Loop after a brief standoff with police, according to Louisville Metro Police.It started just after 11 a.m. Sunday morning at the Walmart located in the 100 block of the Outer Loop near New Cut Road.LMPD Third Division officers responded to a suspected stolen car there.When they got there, they attempted to detain the car and its driver, but the man in the car tried to flee, striking at least two LMPD vehicles.Police say the suspect then "barricaded" himself inside the car. That's when LMPD SWAT was called to the scene.They were able to eventually get the driver out of the car without further incident and arrest him.Police said the suspect was injured by what was believed to be a K-9 unit during the incident. He was taken to UofL Hospital to be treated before being booked into corrections.Police said no one else was injured and no shots were fired during the incident.The two LMPD vehicles struck sustained minor to moderate damage.There are no other outstanding suspects in this case nor any further danger to the public.The name of the suspect has not been released at this time.
