Texas woman slams Walmart shopping cart into grandmother - mySA

A North Texas woman is facing a charge of assault after allegedly slamming her shopping cart into another woman at a Walmart on Monday, June 19. The woman who was hit told CBS News she believes she was targeted because of the color of her skin.

The incident occurred at the Walmart off Highway 121 in The Colony, which is a city in Denton County and a suburb of Dallas. Officers arrested Francis Clark, 68, after she allegedly attacked Janice Lambert, according to CBS News.

Lambert said she was shopping with two of her grandchildren when Clark assaulted her with a shopping cart. Lambert added that Clark told her, "You have no business here. You shouldn't be here. And your kids are hoarding the fruit."

CBS News reported that Lambert tried to get away from Clark. However, Clark continued to follow Lambert and her grandchildren. Lambert called the Colony Police Department and officers arrested Clark at the store. Officers told CBS News that surveillance footage confirmed Clark had targeted Lambert, unprovoked.

Lambert said she is waiting to get an MRI to assess the potential damage to her leg and hip from the cart, according to CBS News. Lambert is fighting multiple myeloma and says the blood cancer makes small injuries even worse.

Clark was charged with assault against an elderly or disabled person. CBS News did not disclose the race of Lambert or Clark.
