Alabama Walmart shooting: 2 injured in self-checkout line, Mobile police say - AL.com

Two people were injured Tuesday night in a shooting at a Walmart self-checkout line, Mobile police told reporters at the scene.

Chief Paul Prine said a male and a female were taken to a hospital after they were injured in a shooting that he said stemmed from an altercation between two groups, WKRG reported.

The shooting at about 8:30 p.m. prompted a lockdown at the store, located off I-65 near Dauphin Street, and is now closed for the night, WPMI reported.

The extent of the injuries or if anyone was in custody was not immediately clear.

Prine said police were still investigating what sparked the altercation.
