CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Cape Coral Police confirmed that a 12-year-old is dead after a car hit the child and other members of the child’s family.
On Wednesday afternoon, Cape Coral police reported to 1619 Del Prado Avenue for a crash with injuries.
Three people in total were hit by a car in front of the Walmart in Cape Coral.
Officers say an elderly driver mistakenly hit the gas pedal and hit three people including the 12-year-old child who died.
The other two victims were adults and family members related to the boy.
One had non-life-threatening injuries, the other had minor injuries.
Police say neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this crash also they say speed was not a factor.
It is not currently known if the driver will face charges. This is an ongoing investigation and more information is expected to be released on Thursday.
