Crosley Electronics Cruiser Plus Turntable in Tourmaline- Bluetooth Out - $49.96
crosleyWhen did the things our parents liked become so… well… cool? High waisted jeans, flared pants, denim jackets, and middle partings are all back “in” while my beloved skinny jeans and not-cropped t-shirts have been declared uncool by the Gen-Z generation. And record players seem to have been added to the list of cool things too. Guess we won’t be needing our iPods anymore then?
My parents, unfortunately, weren’t cool enough to keep their vintage record player around for me to display in my home when they became popular again. Nor were my husband’s parents. But to be totally, painfully honest….can we just admit that record players and turntables are mostly cool in the way retro cars are cool. That is, they look amazing, attract attention, and are no doubt a pretty fun and impressive item to own, but they’re not exactly the most practical. I didn’t hear anyone raving about how they couldn’t wait to buy Ed Sheeran’s new record. Or how they love taking some good classic vinyl on a roadtrip with them. And then there’s the small matter that most of us don’t have enough storage space for our plates, let alone a million vinyl record.
Which is why the real winner (still talking about record players here, not cars) is something which looks retro and has the cool novelty factor but which is actually functional in today’s world. Enter the Crosley Electronics Cruiser Plus Turntable, which is on special at $35 dollars from Walmart.
It’s about the easiest solution you’ll ever find for playing both vinyl and digital music whilst looking cool – which, surely, is the ultimate goal? It features three different speeds as well as pitch control, just like the classic turntables. You can just slip a record on, drop the stylus, and revel in your vinyl glory. But it also has a built-in stereo system and Bluetooth speakers so you can hook up your phone and stream the new Ed Sheeran album too.
And can we just talk about the stylish vintage suitcase look in this gorgeous tourmaline? Technically it does mean you can pack it away safely when it isn’t in use, because the case protects the turntable. But you better not do that.
No, if you buy this thing, it better have pride of place on a fancy display shelf or in a display unit. And then every time you invite people over, it’s the rule that you have to make a show of switching between vinyl and streaming your music. Just to show off a little. Ok, a lot.
You might even be forgiven for your skinny jeans and side parted hair if you break this one out at a party. But I’m not making any promises.
This deal goes live at 7 PM (ET) on Nov. 10 (or 3 PM if you’re a Walmart+ member). Check out our Walmart Black Friday coverage to score early discounted gifts for everyone on your holiday shopping list.
