Police investigation reported at Piqua Walmart - Springfield News Sun

UPDATE @ 4 p.m.: 

Reports of a possible active shooter at the Piqua Walmart prompted a large police response and multiple nearby schools to issue lockdowns, Piqua Police Chief Bruce Jamison said. 

Around 2:15 p.m., police received reports of shots fired near the business on East Ash Street.

An initial investigation found two men left the store, got in separate vehicles, and went to the back of the building. One person fired shots outside the building at the other vehicle as it sped off, Jamison said. 

No one was shot and no injuries were reported.

Jamison said police are still working to determine descriptions of vehicles and people involved in the incident. 

During the police investigation, Piqua City Schools issued lockdowns at their high school and junior high buildings.  Upper Valley Career Center and Edison State Community College also issued lockdowns during the investigation. 

All school lockdowns were lifted before 3:30 p.m.

The lockdown at Piqua High School and the junior high building has been lifted, according to a school representative. 

Edison State Community College has also lifted their lockdown, according to a tweet from the school. 

Multiple law enforcement officers remain near the Piqua Walmart investigating after receiving reports of shots fired outside the business on East Ash Street around 2:15 p.m.

A police investigation near the Piqua Walmart has prompted several schools to go on lockdown, according to officials.

Initial reports indicate officers responded to the Walmart on East Ash Street after receiving reports of shots fired outside of the business around 2:15 p.m.

There have not been any reports of injuries. 

A representative for the Piqua City Schools confirms Piqua High School and the junior high building are on lockdown due to the investigation. 

The Upper Valley Career Center is also on lockdown, according to a representative. 

Edison State Community College is on a “soft lockdown” according to a school representative.
