Armed robbery attempted at Kernersville Walmart store

A man attempted to rob a Kernersville Walmart Neighborhood Market on Sunday night, according to a news release from police.

At 9:43 p.m., a man entered the store at 1035 Beesons Field Drive, confronted a cashier and demanded money. He did not display a weapon but implied he had one and he would harm the cashier if she did not cooperate, Kernersville police said.

The suspect left before receiving any money and was last seen running across the parking lot, going south toward Hasting Hill Road.

A search by officers and a police K-9 failed to locate the suspect. The man is described as being 30 to 40 years old and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall.
