The Columbia Police Department made an arrest after shots were fired at Walmart early Saturday, according to a release from the department.
Officers were dispatched after reports of shots fired in the parking lot of the Walmart located on Grindstone Parkway. Police were informed that the suspect had left the area by car.
Officers found a car matching that description shortly after. The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Demarcus Maxwell of Memphis, Tennessee. A firearm was found in the car with one empty casing inside the weapon, according to the release.
Maxwell admitted to being involved in the shots fired in the Walmart parking lot and was arrested for unlawful possession of a concealed weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, and operating a motor vehicle while his license is revoked, according to the release.
