BRIGHTON, Colo. (Reuters) - A Colorado man was charged on Monday with six counts of first degree murder and 30 counts of attempted murder in connection with a shooting rampage at a Walmart store last week in which three people were killed.
Scott Ostrem, 47, was expected to plead not guilty to the charges during a hearing in Adams County District Court in Brighton on Monday.
The six murder counts include two for each slain victim, under different legal theories.
Police say Ostrem “nonchalantly” walked into the store in Thornton, about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of downtown Denver, on Wednesday evening and opened fire on shoppers and employees.
He was captured the following day by police acting on a tip from the public.
