Tucson food bank gets $50000 grant from Walmart Foundation

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona has received a $50,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation.

The grant was among nine given to Arizona charities by Walmart and the foundation totaling $460,000.

The foundation also gave the Southeastern Arizona Community Unique Services in Safford $58,000, according to a news release from Walmart.

Michael McDonald, CEO of the food bank, said the grant would be used for hunger relief in Southern Arizona.

“Too many children and families in Southern Arizona go hungry. That’s why we are so grateful for the assistance of Walmart and the Walmart Foundation as part of this important effort,” McDonald said in a news release. “This contribution will support and strengthen our efforts to promote a healthy, hungry-free Southern Arizona.”
