GPD: Walmart thieves used self-checkout

Tierra Lashay-Denice Lewis, 28 and Sierra Monique Curtis, 23, were arrested on charges of grand theft.

Two Alachua County women were arrested Sunday after police say they stole more than $500 worth of items from Walmart.

Tierra Lashay-Denice Lewis, 28, of Gainesville, and Sierra Monique Curtis, 23, of Archer, entered the Walmart at 1800 NE 12th Ave. and filled their shopping cart with various items, according to a Gainesville Police Department arrest report.

Police say the two went to the self-checkout and pretended to scan items and then bagged them. They actually scanned and paid for some grocery items. They did not pay for 77 items worth $555.

Lewis and Curtis were arrested on charges of grand theft and were being held in the Alachua County jail.
