Walmart to change how it sells products at 2,300 stores - KSNT News

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The national retail giant Walmart will be enacting some big changes to how it sells goods at hundreds of its stores.

Walmart announced in a press release on June 6 that it will be implementing new digital shelf labels (DSLs) at 2,300 of its stores across the country. These changes will be put in place by 2026.

This follows extensive tests at a Walmart store located in Grapevine, Texas where the new technology has been used to enhance customer experiences. The ability to quickly change prices around a store digitally marks a big step forward beyond the use of physical price labels.

This also helps free up employees from changing tags constantly so they can do other tasks around the store. Some other benefits noted by Walmart include the following:

  • Increased productivity and reduced walking time.
  • Simplified stock replenishment.
  • Faster order picking and fulfilment.

“The transition to digital shelf labels is a game-changer for Walmart, our customers and our associates. It is not only about improving efficiency and customer satisfaction, but also about integrating sustainability into our work, in this case, to help reduce operational waste.”
