COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Both an officer and an alleged shoplifter were injured after getting in a tussle at a Colorado Springs Walmart Monday.
Police say the officer was working extra hours at the Platte Walmart when he spotted the suspect trying to steal merchandise. When the officer tried to arrest him, the man allegedly put up a fight. During the struggle, the officer suffered minor injuries. The suspect ended up with a broken collarbone -- and a trip to the county jail, where he remains Tuesday morning.
Police have identified the suspect as Austin Ferrelli and say he was already wanted on a separate felony warrant prior to his alleged escapades Monday.
The officer was treated at the hospital for their injuries and has since been released.
