Walmart settlement update: If you bought certain grocery items, you could get up to $500 back - NJ.com

If you bought certain grocery products from Walmart, you may be eligible to get up to $500 as part of a settlement with the company.

The $45 million agreement settles claims that Walmart overcharged for certain “weighted goods,” which included meat, poultry, pork and seafood that was sold by weight and certain bagged citrus items between Oct. 19, 2018 and Jan. 19, 2024.

The deadline to sign up is June 5.

How much consumers may be eligible for varies, but could be as high as $500, according to the settlement website. You may be eligible even if you don’t have receipts, the settlement website said.

Walmart did not respond to requests for comment.

People who don’t have receipts or proofs of purchase but attest that they made up to 50 eligible purchases will get $10. Those without receipts who attest that they purchased between 51 and 75 eligible items will get $15, and $20 will be paid to people without receipts who attest to buying between 76 and 100 of the eligible items, the settlement website said. And those who attest to buying 101 or more of the items but don’t have a receipt will get $25, it said.

If you do have receipts or proofs of purchase, you may be entitled to receive 2% of the total cost of the eligible products capped at $500, it said.

The eligible product lists are on the settlement website. The meat products can be found here and the citrus products can be found here. The settlement website also has a search tool where you can look up the goods.

Consumers who received an email or postcard with a Notice ID and Confirmation Code may sign up online. If not, you can use the website’s lookup tool.
