THOMASTON (WGME) -- Maine State Police says it is investigating the death of a 22-month-old child Wednesday night in Thomaston.
Police say they were called to the Thomaston Walmart around 7:26 p.m. for a report of a child not breathing.
The child was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death, which is standard procedure for all child deaths in the state.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
