A person is dead after a police shooting at a Walmart parking lot in northeast Albuquerque. The fatal shooting happened Thursday morning, April 11.Law enforcement is at the Walmart Supercenter store at 2266 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Detectives were able to take the woman into custody.The man went inside the store. As he exited and was met with commands by Albuquerque police officers. As officers tried to arrest him, investigators said he maneuvered himself between an officer and the officer's rifle, that was strapped across their body. He then tried to take a rifle in possession and began shooting."The male subject grabbed a hold of one of the officer's rifles as they were struggling with the male. The male then started to discharge the officer's rifle. We don't know exact count, but we know that, with civilians and officers around wrestling this individual, we know multiple rounds were discharged by the rifle," said Medina during a press conference. "The officer went to grab the subject, and the subject was able to back himself into the officer and literally grab hold of the rifle. We're not positive, but it looks like he may have actually manipulated the rifle to get the safety off."Several officers then fired at the suspect, leading to his death in the parking lot.
