ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) — St. George police arrested a man wanted for homicide in Colorado after a report of suspicious activity at a local Walmart parking lot.
According to police, officers responded to the Bloomington Walmart parking lot following a report of a suspicious white van and a black Cadillac SUV on Feb. 19 around 8:30 p.m.
Witnesses told police they were worried about possible drug use occurring inside the vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers found both vehicles parked next to each other, as described by the witness.
Police said the black SUV fled before officers could make contact. However, officers detained a man and a woman inside the white van. Later, a second man approached and was also detained.
All three were held due to the smell of marijuana from the van. During the identification process, police said the second man gave false names and birth dates. However, paperwork in the van positively identified him.
Dispatch informed officers the man had a warrant for homicide in Colorado and he was arrested.
Upon search, officers found knives and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The suspects were taken into custody.
The black SUV driver remains at large.
Police said the group was also involved in vehicle burglaries in Nevada and attempted credit card fraud in Utah.
