Shoplifting leads to weapons violation at Sioux Falls Walmart - Dakota News Now

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Sioux Falls police report an incident that began as shoplifting turned into a weapons violation in southwest Sioux Falls on Saturday.

The incident happened at around 5:30 p.m. at the Walmart on S. Louise Ave.

A man was confronted by loss prevention, and he grabbed a broom and started swinging it around, damaging items and hitting an employee.

The suspect — 37-year-old John Voice of Sioux Falls — was arrested for Aggravated Assault, Intentional Damage to Property, Failure to Vacate, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction.

A victim who was threatened is a 51-year-old man.

The victim who was struck did not have any serious injuries.
