As of 2:15 on Sunday, Jan. 21, authorities state that the Swansboro Walmart and surrounding areas have been cleared and are safe.

Swansboro Public Safety crews are on the scene at the Swansboro Walmart for what they described as an emergency incident.

As of 1:20 p.m., the store had been evacuated and a shelter-in-place order has been issued for the areas of Little Egret, Whistling Heron, Spoonbill Court, and Park Place Dr.

Residents are urged to utilize caution in the area.

Crews say they are working to mitigate the incident.

Viewers in the area are reporting that they have received an emergency alert for a gas leak, though it's unclear at this time if the two incidents are related.
