Man sentenced following Bristol, Tennessee Walmart parking lot shooting - WCYB

A man convicted in the shooting death of another man in the parking lot of the Bristol, Tennessee, Walmart has been sentenced to additional time in prison.

Michael and Ashley Strouth were both charged in connection with the September 2017 shooting death of Michael Heatherly. Heatherly was the ex-husband of Ashley Strouth.

According to court documents, Michael and Ashley Strouth purchased a rifle, ammo and a lead sled for the purpose of killing Heatherly and researched the internet on ways to avoid detection and apprehension following the murder.

According to Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney Matthew Darby, Strouth was previously sentenced to life in prison plus 52 years. On Monday, Strouth received an additional 25 years on a conspiracy to commit first-degree murder charge.

Ashley Strouth's trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 12.
