Can YOU spot the mistake? Walmart yanks offensive T-shirt from stores after customers spot a VERY RUDE swear word hidden in the slogan
- Twitter user @whosurdaddienow shared a close-up photo of the shirt
- The letters 'RE' are written next to the words 'cycle,' 'use,' 'new,' and 'think'
- The first letters of each word inadvertently spell out a swear word
A pro-recycling T-shirt has been removed from Walmart after a customer spotted a hidden swear word in the slogan, sparking both delight and horror online.
Twitter user @whosurdaddienow shared a close-up photo of the shirt earlier this month, writing, 'I need this shirt before Walmart realizes what they have done. Find the hidden word.'
The green tee has the capital letters 'RE' written on the left and the words 'cycle,' 'use,' 'new,' and 'think' stacked on the right.
The environmentally-friendly message seems innocent enough — until you realize the first letters of each word inadvertently spell out 'c**t.'
The shirt in question was made by the Walmart-owned George fashion label and only available in Canada, where it was on sale for $5, before it was yanked from stores, Newsweek reported.
'This was not intentional, and the T-shirt has been removed,' a Walmart spokesperson told the outlet.
However, @whosurdaddienow's tweet has already gone viral with more than 2.5 million views since it was posted on April 3.
'Haha, my wife found em at our local Walmart,' one person replied, sharing a snapshot of the rack of shirts.
Oh. Oh dear,' someone else wrote, while another added, 'The "c" word on full display.
'So THIS is why C U Next Tuesday was trending,' one woman tweeted.
There were some people who struggled to find the rude word, and @whosurdaddienow helpfully advised them to 'read down.'
'I see it and I’m dying now,' one fan shared.
Other conspiracy theorists believed the inclusion of the rude word in the design was completely intentional.
'What’s the over/under that whoever designed that shirt knew exactly what they were doing?' one Twitter user asked.
'Umm yeah that's no accident,' someone else insisted.
A number of fans wanted to buy the shirt for themselves but were unable to find it at Walmart, prompting a deluge of links to other sites, including Amazon, that offer similar tees featuring the logo.
The T-shirt has also gone viral on TikTok after Canadian a mom posted a short video of it hanging up in the children's section at her local Walmart.
Brianna, who uses the handle @wh0l3h3art3dly, shared her outrage in the caption, writing, 'Frickin Walmart… strikes again… @Walmart Canada on a child's shirt… really?!?!'
The 10-second clip has been viewed 5.5 million times and has received more than 6,700 comments since it was posted on March 31.
'Yeah someone needs to Re-think the wording,' one person joked.
'I’d get the letters bedazzled,' someone else shared.
'I ABSOLUTELY NEED this shirt!!' another added.
