No liquor for Worcester Walmart as city says area is already well-served - MassLive.com

A Worcester Walmart store that hoped to begin selling beer and wine has had its application denied by the city’s License Commission.

The commission made the decision at its Thursday meeting, saying that the area around the store at 25 Tobias Boland Way was adequately served.

Mark Borenstein, an attorney representing Walmart, argued that while there are two other package stores within a half-mile of the store, they serve a different population than Walmart does, in part because it is served by WRTA buses.
