Midland Walmart sold alcohol to underage person - Midland Daily News

In a Thursday night alcohol compliance check, 31 Midland businesses passed, and only Walmart, at 910 Joe Mann Boulevard, failed the evaluation.

Midland Police Department, with the assistance of area students, conducted compliance checks among the 32 businesses licensed to sell alcoholic beverages in the community, said Midland Police Department Community Relations Officer Brennon Warren. The department followed standard procedures for conducting compliance checks. Participants younger than 21 years old worked with detectives by entering area businesses and attempting to illegally purchase alcohol.

Of the 32 businesses, 31 retailers refused to sell to underage buyers.

“The person that sells the alcohol is issued a civil infraction and a report is sent to the Liquor Control Commission,” Warren said.

Warren said he does not believe Walmart has failed the compliance check in past years.

Walmart did not respond to Daily News inquiries for comment.
