N.J. woman steals nearly $200K from area Walmart, authorities say - lehighvalleylive.com

A 39-year-old New Jersey woman stole nearly $200,000 in a series of thefts from a Walmart in Mansfield Township, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office reports.

Megan B. Tuttle, of Mendham, was arrested Wednesday by township police on a second-degree charge of theft, Prosecutor Jim Pfeiffer said in a news release.

Walmart loss prevention contacted police because “large sums of cash” went missing on various dates, Pfeiffer said. The store provided surveillance video of 15 thefts, court papers say.

“Walmart reported the total loss was $198,899,” Pfeiffer said.

Tuttle, an employee, was seen handling the cash and was responsible for sealing bank deposits “where the money was short,” court papers say.

Tuttle “admitted to taking the cash from the bank deposits on various occasions, and to taking several thousand dollars during those occasions”, court papers say about her interview with township police.

Tuttle was released on pretrial monitoring pending a future court appearance, Pfeiffer said.

A listed phone number for Tuttle wasn’t immediately available and court papers don’t indicate if she is represented by an attorney.
