Walmart plans to hire more than 50,000 US associates in its stores, clubs, campuses and supply chain facilities, according to a post by Walmart Chief People Officer Donna Morris.
The retailers’ average hourly rate is $16.50 per hour and its starting wage goes up to $30 in select roles and markets, Morris wrote. The company also gives workers access to a 401(k) on their first day, matching employee contributions up to 6% after one year.
Morris wrote the company has also reduced its frontline hiring process to 24 hours.
In a separate post, Suresh Kumar, executive VP, chief technology officer and chief development officer, said Walmart Global Tech is hiring more than 5,000 associates globally this fiscal year ending Jan. 31, 2023, and adding hubs in Toronto and Atlanta. Walmart Global Tech already has more than 20,000 associates globally. Its focused on hiring cybersecurity professionals, architects, developers, software engineers, data scientists, data engineers, technical program managers and product managers.
