July 20, 2021 – Merced, CA - Merced Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that tragically took the life of 18-year Dominick Hernandez of Atwater. On July 19th, 2021, at 6:43 P.M., officers 
responded to the Walmart parking lot on Loughborough Dr. for multiple callers reporting a shooting that had just occurred.
Officers located the victim Hernandez suffering from a gunshot wound and provided medical aid. Hernandez was later transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased. Merced PD detectives responded to investigate and spoke with several witnesses. The detectives are actively working the case and are asking any other potential witnesses to this crime to please come forward with any information you have.
