Walmart parts ways with Bossa Nova Robotics, instead will hire human workers - PennLive

If you thought robots were going to take your jobs, that might not be the case. Well, at least at Walmart. The retail corporation’s partnership with Bossa Nova Robotics has come to an end.

Now humans will take the jobs from the robots who “worked” at some Walmart chains across the country. According to CNBC and Wall Street Journal, Walmart has found that humans can manage products more efficiently than the robots. Plus according to the report, Walmart U.S. Chief Executive John Furner was concerned with how customers would react to the robots.

Business has boomed for the retailer since the pandemic started, as citizens are getting more essential items while in quarantine or social distancing. According to CNBC, Walmart’s business doubled in its second quarter.

Since then, the retailer has worked to get and keep the right essential products on its shelves, but it’s been a struggle. Walmart CEO Doug McMillon spoke with CNBC’s “Squawk Box” about the inconsistencies with in-stock, out-out-stock items.

According to the “Squawk Box” interview, McMillon shared:

“It’s more sporadic across the store. You may find that we’re not as in stock on crafts and fabrics as we should be. There have been some toys that we’ve been out of stock on.”

“If I could change one thing about our business right now, it would be to have an even higher in-stock level. We’re trying to make sure we’re ready to go all the way to Christmas and beyond, but we’ve still got some recovery to do."

“From time to time, you’ll see a community that’s got an increase in [Covid-19] cases and you’ll see more stock-up behavior again."
