魁北克省省長勒戈（Francois Legault）批評稱，摧毁歷史並非解決問題的方法。事件中暫未有人被捕。
麥克唐納於1867年至1891年間曾兩度出任加拿大總理，他被指任由飢荒和疾病導致原住民死亡，又強迫原住民離開領地，至少15萬原住民兒童被迫離鄉別井到寄宿學校上學，不許他們說母語，也不允許實行自己的傳統文化，他因而被指是白人至上主義者。
