To better compete with Amazon, Walmart is reportedly launching a direct competitor to Amazon's Prime membership called Walmart+ later this month.

While the retail giant has been mum about specifics, Walmart's Delivery Unlimited program and reporting from Recode offer a possible roadmap of what Walmart may be planning and what shoppers can likely expect. If early reporting proves accurate, Walmart+ is positioning itself as a more affordable, equally robust alternative to Amazon Prime.

To lure Prime's 150-million-plus members away from Amazon, Walmart will reportedly offer standard one-day shipping and a cheaper annual subscription fee of $98 a year compared to Prime's $119 fee.

Shoppers can expect Walmart+ to debut in the latter part of July, according to Recode. As details on the upcoming service trickle in, we'll be updating this story with new info, but for now, you can learn more below about how Walmart+ will reportedly work, what kinds of perks may be included, how much it is expected to cost, and more.

Walmart+: rumored services and features

Faster delivery

Walmart+ will reportedly get your orders delivered faster than Amazon Prime with free one-day shipping. Amazon Prime, famously, offers two-day shipping for many of the products it sells. Some Prime members may get free one-day delivery or even same-day delivery, but Walmart+ may make it the standard.

Walmart's Delivery Unlimited service already offers its subscribers unlimited same-day grocery delivery via hundreds of Walmart locations, so it's very likely that this perk carries over to the new service, with the addition of non-essential goods.

Walmart may also leverage its significant lead in physical stores to incentivize Walmart+ by offering customers who use curbside pickup preferred access. As it stands, Walmart currently offers its Delivery Unlimited service at more than 1,400 locations, dwarfing Amazon's 500 Whole Foods locations.

Exclusive perks

In the same vein as Prime Early Access or Prime-exclusive deals offered by Amazon, Walmart may offer its subscribers first dibs on limited-time offers and access to better prices. Walmart+ may also offer discounts to subscribers at Walmart gas stations.

According to Vox, Walmart+ may also offer access to a streaming service to compete with Amazon's Prime Video service.

At the time of writing, it's unclear which of these perks will actually launch with the service, but we'll keep you updated as we learn more about Walmart+.
