Death of man beaten in Apple Glen Walmart parking lot ruled a homicide - wpta21.com

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The Allen County Coroner's Office decided the death of a man who was beaten in a Walmart parking earlier this year was a homicide.

On Friday, the Allen County Coroner's Office officially ruled the death of 44-year-old Damarcus Walker a homicide.

Authorities say he was battered at the Apple Glen Walmart back in March.

Walker's injuries sent him to the hospital in critical condition, but he later died on April 11.

Following an autopsy, the coroner said Walker died from "tracheal narrowing and cerebral edema and hemorrhage due to complications from blunt force injuries of the head."

Walker's death marks the 25th homicide in Allen County this year.

Police arrested Bluffton man Levi Arnold in connection to the beating, and he's currently charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and resisting law enforcement.

Arnold is due in court for a competency hearing on July 24.
