EAST BREMERTON — Detectives late Saturday arrested a suspect they believe started a fire in the children's clothing section earlier in the day at the Walmart on Highway 303.
The sheriff's office said the fire caused $3 million in damage. No injuries were reported.
Authorities were called to the store just before 11 a.m. There were more than 325 people in the store, the sheriff's office said. The store's fire suppression system and "the quick actions of several Walmart employees" contained the fire, the office added.
Surveillance footage showed a person entering the store wearing dark clothing who changed clothes after the fire. The sheriff's office said the suspect rode away on a bicycle.
Later, the sheriff's office said it had arrested a 15-year-old, who was taken to the Kitsap County Juvenile Detention Center.
The Kitsap County Fire Marshal's Office was also called in to help determine the cause of the fire.
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact the sheriff's office.
