Walmart to open its first Covid-19 testing site in Texas - The Dallas Morning News

Walmart is about to open its first coronavirus testing site in Texas.

The first one in Texas will be in Lubbock and is scheduled to open on Friday. A second on is in the works to open later this week, but it will not be in North Texas, said Walmart spokeswoman Anne Hatfield.

“We’re looking at more sites,” she said.

Without the Texas sites, Walmart has 12 locations open in Chicago, Shreveport, Albuquerque and in Bentonville where it’s headquartered.

Walmart plans to have more than 20 sites in at least 10 states by the end of this month. The retailer is partnering with Quest Labs and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for these locations.

The testing sites are outdoors and by appointment only. The method is self-administered nasal tests.

“We have learned a lot from our initial sites and are working to help expand testing in areas of need as quickly as possible,” Hatfield said.
