SAN LEANDRO (KPIX) – Police were investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting at Walmart in San Leandro.
It happened around 3 p.m. at the Walmart on Hesperian Boulevard.
Officers responded to a report of a man waving a bat around the store.
Police said they tried to tase the man but it didn’t stop him.
That’s when one of the two responding officers opened fire. The man died outside the store entrance.
“Walmart does have surveilance video,” said San Leandro Police Lt. Ted Henderson. “We should know relatively soon, but we have to review the video.”
No officers were hurt. So far, the suspect has not been identified.
