Walmart to start taking workers' temperature as it steps up COVID-19 safety measures - MarketWatch

Walmart INc. WMT, +5.12% said Tuesday it is taking additional steps to ensure the safety of its workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, including taking the temperarture of staff working at its stores, clubs and facilities as they check in for work. "Any associate with a temperature of 100.0 degrees will be sent home, asked to seek medical treatment if necessary, and told to not return to work until they are fever-free for at least 3 days," the retailer said in a statement. The company has also ordered protective equipment, including face masks and gloves for its workers, which are expected to start arriving this week. The company is also emphasizing that workers observe the six feet separation from others when they can to maintain the social distancng that health experts say is needed to contain the virus. Shares were slightly higher premarket, but have fallen 3% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX, +3.35% has fallen 19% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +3.19% has fallen 22%.
