What we learned about the future of shopping at Walmart's annual meeting - Dallas News

Bentonville, Ark., spent last week in the once-a-year spotlight that comes with being the birthplace of the world's largest retailer. More than 10,000 store employees, hundreds of shareholders, dozens of Wall Street analysts, reporters and celebrities were invited to its annual meeting. 

The town of 50,000 people is part of the growing Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers metro area which includes the University of Arkansas and has a total population of 525,032.  While there's no downtown filled with skyscrapers, the area is growing with the suburban sprawl seen in major cities such as Dallas and Fort Worth.

We were there to hear what lies ahead for the biggest corporate employer in Texas and how it'll shape what we buy and how we buy it.
