A shopping cart attendant in Texas got a surprise over the weekend when they spotted a large rat snake twisted inside shopping carts in a Walmart parking lot.

Many Texans know to watch for the possibility of snakes in tall grass, under rocks and burrowed inside a pile of leaves.

Shopping carts became the latest addition to that list after a Walmart employee in Texas recently came upon a large rat snake twisted inside a collection of shopping carts outside the store, according to a Facebook post from the Northeast Police Department.

"Recent heavy rains are forcing a lot of snakes out of their natural habitats, and this goes to show, that they can turn up just about anywhere," the department said in the post.

A police officer patrolling the area on Saturday came upon the snake after hearing a loud scream in the parking lot.

But there was nothing to fear with Savannah resident John Heckaman around. Heckaman, described as "The Snake Charmer" in the Facebook post, was bitten "only" once while moving the snake out of the area, the post said.

It's unclear if he needed any treatment.
