Gobble, a meal prep company serving households nationwide and backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, is launching Sunday Meal Prep. The kits are a new business line aimed at working professionals seeking fresh, healthy weekday lunches.

Customers will receive a weekly delivery filled with the freshly prepped ingredients for easy, healthy lunches. The entire box is designed to batch cook in under 90 minutes over the weekend, leaving the fridge stocked with six grab-and-go lunches that are ready for the busy work week. Each box includes three personalized lunch kits which amount to six individual lunches. Backed by Alexis Ohanian, Richard Sherman and many other top venture capital firms, Gobble entered a partnership with Walmart last year to bring the their meal prep kits to Walmart's online store. The partnership confirmed that there was room for growth for Gobble to expand its product line and service offerings.

After the success with Walmart, the inspiration behind the Sunday Meal Prep came from from a Reddit group and customer feedback. With over 900,000 members of the Reddit group feeding into the phenomenon of Sunday meal prepping, CEO and founder of Gobble, Ooshma Garg, saw the opportunity to make meal prepping  fresh, fast and convenient within the existing infrastructure at Gobble.

“We’re tapping into a green field opportunity that leverages our food manufacturing engine perfectly,” says Garg. “Over the years, we’ve developed a large, loyal community of working parents and busy professionals who frequently communicate with Gobble about all of their daily food requirements. They alerted us to the Sunday meal prep phenomenon and asked that we create a better option. Across the country, hundreds of thousands of professionals devote their Sundays to planning, shopping, preparing, cooking, and packaging their weekday lunches. Closely co-developed in home with a small group of Gobble customers, Sunday Meal Prep by Gobble makes workday lunches very easy and helps people eat healthy lunches every day with ease, excitement and pride.”

The Gobble Lunch Box is fully personalized based on customer tastes and preferences, such as keto, low-carb, and vegetarian diets. Each weekly lunch delivery is fully customizable, down to the proteins and grains that are paired with each vegetable recipe, including Gobble best-sellers like Chimichurri-Roasted Rainbow Carrots, Pan-Roasted Butternut Squash with

Rosemary & Honey and Oshitashi-Style Swiss Chard with Sesame Oil & Furikake. Lunch bases start at $5.99/lunch with add-ons including personalized protein pairings and healthy grains. Recipe generation is overseen by Executive Chef Thomas Ricci whose pedigree includes experience at Michelin-starred restaurants, the culinary R&D team applies “taste mapping technology” pulled from customer affinity algorithms to inform them what types of foods are best reviewed by different customer segments. That helps them develop custom menus based on unique taste preferences and dietary needs, as well as regional trends.

“Gobble is unlike traditional meal kit companies which prioritized early growth over product/market fit and are paying the price with high customer acquisition costs and weak customer retention, “ says Steve Robinson, Gobble’s VP of Supply Chain and Operations.“It’s also unlike traditional CPG companies which still rely on outdated, inflexible manufacturing

infrastructures and top-down, unidirectional communications with customers. They’re slow to recognize customer desires and even slower to implement them. In contrast, Gobble invested heavily in the development of a full-stack (vertically integrated) state-of-the-art infrastructure specifically built to unleash innovation at every step of our operations. Vertical integration gives

us the flexibility and power to spin out new business lines, while bi-directional customer communications gives us the insights to know what to build. It’s a powerful one-two punch of flexibility and insight. The vertical integration of recipe generation, food sourcing, scaled meal prep, distribution and data analysis allows us to continue to grow ahead of competitors."

Robinson, who was previously Vice President of Supply Chain at both Walmart and Starbucks, added, “Gobble represents the next generation of CPG. For years now, Gobble has served the easiest dinner kits in the market. Our entire company is a supply chain, technology stack, and user experience developed to modernize the age-old culinary method of mise-en-place (French "for put in place"). In professional kitchens, cooks and chefs will cut, cook, and simmer all the elements of a single dish for hours separately en masse to later come together and be fully cooked in just a few minutes when a dish is ordered by a customer. We have scaled this concept of fresh meal prep and mise-en-place to make dinnertime easy in homes all over the country. We have become every family’s sous chef, first for dinner and now for lunch.
