
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A press release from Walmart says that the company has given nearly $1.8 million dollars in cash and in-kind contributions to non-profit organizations in Lexington during fiscal year 2018.
According to the release, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and the Walmart Foundation contributions are focused on hunger relief, healthy eating, workforce development and disaster preparedness.
In Lexington, Walmart and Sam’s Club donated 1,022,214 pounds of food to local food banks and hunger relief organizations during FY18, which is the equivalent of 851,845 meals.
Also, the release points out that in Lexington, Walmart associates performed 77 hours of volunteer service in their communities throughout FY18.
