CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Maybe there's still some Halloween hangover.
An 8News viewer says while doing some early morning shopping at Walmart, located just off Iron Bridge Road, she got an unexpected surprise -- the sight of a couple of opossums inside. No word on where or what the critters were doing there.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low 60s throughout the day, but perhaps the critters were cold. Or maybe, they're just like us and couldn't resist the discounted Halloween candy.
Jami Lamontage, a Walmart spokeswoman, confirmed to 8News that a "third-party animal control vendor" was called to the store.
Lamontage added "critters" were removed from the building, but did not specify if the critters were indeed opossums.
"(Walmart is) committed to providing our customers with a clean and pleasant shopping experience," Lamontagne said in an emailed statement.
No customers or animals were harmed -- but we're willing to guess both were a bit frightened by the other's appearance.
