Walmart Job Fair today

Mobile, AL (WKRG) - MOBILE, Ala (WKRG) - - Walmart hopes to hire more than 150 people at a job fair this weekend. The new distribution center in Mobile County will eventually bring about 750 new jobs to the area.

The Job fair is this Saturday, today, at the Mobile Civic Center from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Company planning to fill more than 150 positions this weekend

What:              The Walmart Mobile Import Distribution Center is hosting the first of two job fairs this Saturday with the goal of filling more than 150 inbound receiving jobs – including unloaders, power equipment haulers.
                             “We had a tremendously positive response to our job information sessions a few weeks back, so we are hopeful to have a great turn out of passionate candidates to interview this weekend,” said Barry Westbrooks, General Manager of the Mobile Import Distribution Center.
Twenty-five mangers will be conducting interviews with interested candidates on-site. Please note that all interested applicants must complete and pass an online assessment prior to attending the job fair.That assessment can be found at careers.walmart.com under the location, Irvington, Alabama.
Background:       When fully operational, the distribution center will employ more than 750 full-time associates with wages averaging more than $16.50 an hour. An additional job fair to hire several hundred outbound shipping positions will occur in June. Announced in March 2017, the $135 million distribution center will help support approximately 700 Walmart stores in Alabama, Mississippi and beyond.
