Elkhart Co. Walmart evacuated; 2 people detained

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - The Elkhart County Walmart at the corner of Ash Road and Old U.S. 20 was evacuated Wednesday morning after employees reported several suspicious people.

Police were called shortly after 8 a.m.

Employees reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot, and they also reported suspicious activity in the store.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle with two people inside. A firearm was also visible.

Those two people were detained by police. Their identities have not been released.

A third person was recorded on surveillance video, but that person had left the store by the time police arrived. Police have not released a description of that individual.

Police are still investigating.
