Broomfield police discovered a pipe bomb in a stolen vehicle located overnight in a Walmart parking lot and have taken three people into custody, the department tweeted this morning.
Officers conducting business checks were patrolling the parking lot of the Walmart at 121st Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard at 4:10 a.m. Sunday when they located a vehicle that had been stolen out of Thornton, according to Broomfield police.
They took three people into custody: Zach Rickard, 30, John Ulibarri, 28, and Heather Moore, 28. Police identified Moore as the driver of the stolen vehicle. Charges are to be determined, Broomfield police tweeted.
After police found what they believed to be a pipe bomb, the Adams County Bomb Squad was called out, and the public was asked to avoid the area. The bomb squad confirmed the device was a pipe bomb and disassembled it.
Broomfield police say there no longer is any danger to the public.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the Walmart is open for business, police said.
