Walmart Foundation donates $40000 to JFS Food Pantry

MARGATE — The Walmart Foundation has awarded the Jewish Family Service a $40,000 grant for its food pantry.

The grant will be used to purchase essential nonperishables such as peanut butter, soup, cereal, pasta and sauce, tuna and more to stock the pantry for the 2,500 people and 600 children who it each year.

“Food insecurity can impact entire families, affecting their ability to work and take care of themselves, thus locking people into a vicious cycle that is hard to overcome,”  JFS CEO Andrea Steinberg said.

Jennifer Hoehn, Walmart director of public affairs and government relations for New Jersey, said residents in Atlantic County will benefit from this collaborative effort to provide food to low-income members of their community.

"Working together with Jewish Family Service of Atlantic County, we aim to serve families whose food and nutrition needs would otherwise go unmet,” she said.
