NEWPORT — The Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market along Highway 70 was evacuated Saturday morning following a bomb threat.
Teams with the Newport Police Department, Newport Fire and EMS and the Carteret County Sheriff's Office have cleared the building and staged at a nearby gas station.
As of 11:30 a.m., a K9 unit had arrived on scene.
The Newport Moose Lodge is sheltering evacuated Walmart staff while first responders evaluate the threat.
No further information on the bomb threat has been confirmed.
