Six things to know about the Swansboro Walmart

Onslow County’s fourth Walmart Supercenter opens its doors Wednesday.

The new store located at 1109 W. Corbett Ave. (N.C. 24) in Swansboro is set to open with a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m.

The store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is the fourth Supercenter in Onslow County, joining the two in Jacksonville and the one in Richlands.

Here are a few things to know about the Swansboro store:

1. The store will includes a broad assortment of general merchandise, full grocery department with bakery and deli as well as in-store services including a full-service pharmacy with drive-thru, tire and auto service, and free store pick-up service.

2. For those who bank with Navy Federal Credit Union, there will be a location inside the store. According to the NFCU website, lobby hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. A grand opening will be held for the bank 10 a.m. Jan. 29.

3. The store will hold a Family Welcome Celebration for the community the weekend of Jan. 27-28 with activities for the entire family and free food samples and giveaways while supplies last. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28.

4. Come in and shop in-store or use the free store pickup service and order online at Walmart.com. Select from grocery items, choose the best pickup time, and a Walmart personal shopper will load the groceries into your vehicle for you.

5. The store will employ up to 300 full-time and part-time associates. Store manager Aljeana Staples began her Walmart career 15 years ago as a service desk associate at a store in Lynchburg, Virginia.

6. Walmart has announced plans to support Swansboro Fire Department, Swansboro Police Department, Swansboro Middle School, Swansboro Elementary School, and Queens Creek Elementary School through $8,000 in grants in the coming months.
