Accused Walmart 'scooter bandits' turn themselves in: 'Deeply sorry'

A couple who scurried around on scooters at a northeastern Pennsylvania Walmart after allegedly lifting a credit card and some cash from a female customer have turned themselves in and are now "deeply sorry."

WNEP-TV reports Robert Doerwald of Forest City and Dawn Hosie of Carbondale turned themselves in to Pa. state police in Wayne County.

WNEP reports the pair were deeply apologetic after allegedly using the woman's credit card at another Walmart, where their images were captured as they wheeled in on electric scooters.

From WNEP:

"I never do stuff like this. I don't know what came over me that day," Dawn Hosie said. "I wanted to turn myself in for the girl's charge card I used. And I wanted to tell her how deeply sorry I am. I know I wouldn't want it done to me. I can imagine what she went through knowing it was gone."

Background from WNEP:

The unidentified woman lost her purse at the Walmart near Honesdale on January 4. The very same day, the couple is alleged to have used the credit cards in that purse to make purchases at McDonald's as well as another Walmart in Dickson City, where their images were captured by surveillance cameras as they wheeled around on scooters in the store.

Troopers tell WNEP-16 charges are pending against both Hosie and Doerwald.
